Do you or your neighbor grow grapes, hazelnuts, blueberries,
nursery stock, or other crops that are sensitive to herbicides?
A hot topic in Willamette Valley farming is the need to reduce the
use of volatile herbicides on grass seed and wheat in the area of herbicide
sensitive crops. The number of planted acres of grapes, hazelnuts, blueberries,
and nurseries continues to rise, as does the need for a safe herbicide product
that does not move off target and a strong adjuvant to retard drift.
Available now is Bayer Crop Sciences Huskie, an
effective tool providing excellent weed control without the concern off target
volatility. Huskie was labeled on grass seed in July of 2011 and has provided
excellent control of weeds that are a problem in grass seed and wheat.
The products popularity has grown significantly due to its excellent crop
safety, broad weed spectrum, and lack of volatility.
Huskie uses two herbicide modes of action an HPPD and
Buctril. These two modes of action form a synergism to prevent resistance
and to give excellent pre-emergent and post emergent weed control.
Huskie works hard to control mustards, bedstraw, dogfennel, groundsel, prickly
lettuce, sowthistle, cudweed, meadowfoam, and wild radish.
Huskie performs great when paired with Loveland
Products LI700, which is a non-ionic surfactant, proven to retard chemical
drift and create a more even chemical penetration on tissue. Together these
products provide optimum safety for growers near sensitive crops like grapes,
hazelnuts, blueberries, and nursery crops.

Accomplish LM rate studies where it was applied in early spring at
bud break have shown increases of more than 15% tree trunk growth along with
improved tree vigor when compared to the control, said Joe Cacka, Loveland
Technical Service Rep. Mr. Cacka has a long history of working on hazelnut
research in the Willamette Valley.
He said, this increase in tree trunk relates directly into
increased nut production in the early years of production. A fertigation
trial now in the fourth year on 4th to 7th leaf trees has shown significant yield
and nut quality responses where Accomplish LM has been applied in the summer
through the drip-line irrigation. Accomplish LM applied alone and
Accomplish LM applied with nutrition through the water resulted in marketable
nut production yield increases of 9 and 16% with additional revenues of
$450 and $615/ac., respectively, when compared to the control. This new
technology employees an organic form of Biochemistry, which has proven to
improve the nutrient efficiencies of nutrients in the soil and of the
fertilizers being applied.
A new product call Titan powered by Accomplish LM is designed to
be applied to dry fertilizers has shown to be a very effective fertilizer
catalyst, make fertilizer nutrition more plant available to any crop, reports
Mr. Cacka.

Titan PBA Powered by Accomplish
Titan PBA Powered by Accomplish
Titan PBA Powered by Accomplish by Loveland Products is a liquid
catalyst meant to work along with a fertilizer program to increase fertilizer
availability and overall plant performance. Titan can increase the availability
of Phosphorus and Potassium, to major elements needed for plant health, as well
as availability of other nutrients. With the use of Titan, there is superior
early root development that not only reduces the leaching of nitrogen, but also
increases nutrient uptake. This helps ensure that crops are not deprived of
vital nutrients during critical growth periods.
In addition to these benefits, Titan helps break down the treated
dry fertilizer, which causes the nutrients to break down into plant available
forms sooner. Titan can be applied through a broadcast application with liquid
fertilizer, or through dry fertilizer treatment.
